TORONTO POP ARTIST GUS SHARES NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO “MISS YOU”
(still from “Miss You”)
Toronto, ON – Sept. 23, 2019 – Since releasing his debut EP Lower Than The Ground earlier this year, 18 year-old pop artist GUS has been busy. On the heels of the release, GUS hit the road this spring alongside Johnny Orlando opening for both his North American and European tour dates. Since returning, he’s been in-studio writing new material and has given us a glimpse with his latest single “Miss You“. Watch the video that pulls on the heartstrings HERE.
In “Miss You” GUS is reflecting on a relationship coming to an end that he isn’t ready to be over. On the track he says, “‘Miss You’ is a raw vulnerable account of a summer love that had to end. The line ‘we said forever then you left in September’, is talking about both of us going off to different schools and having to leave behind what we had. I ask if she feels the same way; if going separate ways was a mistake.”
Growing up just outside of Toronto, GUS began writing his own material at 13. Moving his creative process outside the bedroom, he began working with producer Robyn Dell’Unto to help develop a renowned pop sound in his final years of high school. His debut single “Party” from the EP is on the cusp of 1 million streams on Spotify.
On his 18th birthday, GUS signed his first record deal with Cadence Recordings. On the three track EP, he worked alongside producers Ryan Worsley (Dear Rouge, Nuella Charles, The Treble), Joel Stouffer, drummer of Dragonette; and up and coming producer Michael Goldchain. GUS’ lyrics are drawn from real life; hanging out with friends, family, and most recently about moving away to university in a new city. He’s approachable, positive, down-to-earth and loves to joke around – his charm and personality are infectious, perfectly matched with the tone and presentation of his music.
